ABOUT

Kalil Haddad is an experimental filmmaker based in Toronto. He has written, directed, and edited over ten short films including: Farm Boy (19), The Taking of Jordan (22), and His Smell (23). His work has screened internationally at festivals and gallery exhibitions in Europe, Latin America, and the United States; including Chicago’s 33rd Onion City Experimental, where The Taking of Jordan was awarded Best of the Festival. Writing on his films have appeared in Cinema Year Zero, Counter Arts, and Tone Glow, among other publications.

As an editor, he has collaborated with John Greyson on International Dawn Chorus Day (21) and Sophy Romvari on Still Processing (20) and It’s What Each Person Needs (22). These latter works were released by The Criterion Channel and The New Yorker, while the former received the TEDDY Award for Best Short Film at the 71st Berlinale.

His work appears in the collections of The Film-Makers’ Cooperative, Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre, and Vtape.
