Kalil Haddad is a writer and director based in Toronto, Ontario. His works often explore themes of hauntology, disconnectivity, and self-identity. They have been released through Vtape, Canada’s largest video art distributer.
Often working in hybrid forms, he has directed six shorts including Late Night Delight (2017), Liam & Kiki (2017), As I Sat in His Car… (2018), Farm Boy (2019), Tiger Eats a Baby (2020), and The Beautiful Room is Empty (2020). Micro-works include Blue Movie (2020) and Honeypot (2021).
In addition to his film work, he has also directed and produced music videos for Mark Pelli (of Magic!), Justice Der, and The Harmful.
As an editor, he has collaborated with acclaimed filmmakers Kazik Radwanski (Anne at 13,000 ft, TIFF ‘19), Sophy Romvari (Still Processing, TIFF ‘20), and John Greyson (International Dawn Chorus Day, Berlinale ‘21).
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production from York University.
Tiger Eats a Baby and The Beautiful Room is Empty are his latest films.
